KOTA KINABALU, Sabah (Jan 6, 2025) – The European Wellness Premier Center in Kota Kinabalu recently hosted a special gathering of senior business leaders and budding entrepreneurs from Vistage Sabah, centered on the theme “Future-Proofing Growth in a Changing Market.”
The event, held at the center’s auditorium, highlighted the importance of integrating wellness into the fast-paced lives of executives, and offered attendees the chance to explore the cutting-edge technologies available at the 60,000 sq. feet state-of-the-art facility.
Led by Prof. Mike Chan, the center’s founder, the in-house event inspired attendees to consider how regenerative medicine and wellness practices can enhance both personal well-being and professional success.
During his address, Prof. Chan, who is also the visionary founder of the European Wellness Biomedical Group (EWBG), shared his journey and insights from over 40 years in regenerative medicine. With a passion for advancing stem cell therapies and immunology, Chan highlighted the center’s role in transforming the field of wellness. His dedication to improving lives through scientific innovation has made European Wellness a beacon of progress in the global healthcare landscape.
Vistage’s Influence: Empowering Business Leaders
Vistage, the world’s leading executive coaching organization, has been empowering CEOs and business owners for over 66 years. Through peer advisory groups and executive coaching, it helps leaders tackle business challenges and improve their decision-making skills. Vistage Sabah’s role in fostering leadership development in a rapidly evolving market has been instrumental in guiding entrepreneurs through complex obstacles.
Dato’ George Lim, Founder & CEO of G & A Group of Companies, led the Vistage Sabah delegation to the center. He praised Prof. Mike Chan for his entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, noting how Chan’s life story serves as an inspiration for young entrepreneurs. He said, “Prof. Chan’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a global leader in regenerative medicine teaches us that passion and perseverance are key to overcoming challenges.”
From Kampung Boy to Global Leadership
Prof. Chan’s journey to success was not without its challenges. Raised in a rural village, he shared his early struggles and the lessons he learned about resilience and hard work. Despite facing financial hardships, he remained dedicated to his education and to creating opportunities that would benefit others. “I came from a very humble background, but my father instilled in me the importance of dedication,” Prof. Chan reflected. This determination fueled his rise to global prominence in the field of regenerative medicine.
Prof. Chan’s commitment to education has been a cornerstone of his success. He proudly noted that he and his team at European Wellness are the only organization in the world to have written 50 books on immunology and stem cell research, underscoring the importance of knowledge sharing. “Success comes from passion. If you are complaining about your work, then you don’t have the passion,” he emphasized, a mantra that has driven his continuous innovation.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Chan highlighted the importance of maintaining not just life span but health span—a concept he has championed throughout his career. He stressed that true longevity is measured not by the number of years lived but by the quality of life during those years. “You are only as young as your organs,” he explained, emphasizing the critical role of a healthy lifestyle in preventing the inevitable process of aging.
A Legacy of Impact and Wellness
As the event came to an end, Dato’ George Lim expressed his admiration for Prof. Chan’s achievements and the significant impact the European Wellness Center has had on both the local and global stage. “I’m proud that Prof. Chan chose Sabah as the home for this world-class center,” he said. “This has created job opportunities, boosted local tourism, and brought international recognition to our region.”
Prof. Chan’s address was a call to action for the Vistage group and entrepreneurs everywhere. By embracing passion, innovation, and a holistic approach to health, leaders can not only extend their careers but also thrive in both business and life.
“Passion is important, but it must be aligned with what you love,” said Prof. Chan. The visit to the European Wellness Center in Kota Kinabalu, coupled with Chan’s inspiring words, left a lasting impact on all who attended, encouraging them to prioritize wellness as a key component of long-term success.
