By the age of 30, we start to lose up to 5% of our muscle mass and function with each passing decade. This leads to decreased strength, frailty, and a reduced ability to perform daily activities.
Sarcopenia (coming from the Greek words ‘sarx’ meaning flesh, and ‘penia’ meaning loss) affects a large part of our world’s population – but it doesn’t have to be an inevitable part of aging; awareness and early action can make a difference!
