European Wellness Group is keen on making Sarawak a part of Borneo’s expansion for cutting-edge medical wellness advancements, especially in immunology, bioregenerative therapies, as well as stem cell biotechnology, to cater for the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) region.
This means not just offering healthcare services but also attracting visitors globally for top-notch medical wellness and bioregenerative therapies on Borneo soils.
Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan emphasized the crucial role of support from the Sarawak government for this endeavour to succeed. The aim is to make Sarawak a preferred destination for medical wellness hub rather than locals seeking treatment abroad.
With luxurious and posh centres worldwide, including medical centres in Germany, Vietnam, and Greece, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan showcased the establishment of a European Wellness centre in Pullman as a testament to the group’s commitment to Sarawak’s medical wellness progress.
During a cordial meeting with Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan reiterated his group’s eagerness to contribute to Sarawak’s biotech, healthcare, medical wellness, and educational tourism sectors. The focus is on sharing knowledge and expertise – foreign and local – bringing in revenue for Sarawak.
Also present at the meeting were Dato’ Sri Abang Haji Abdul Karim bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, President of Sarawak Business Federation (SBF), Nor Aishah Tan Abdullah, Business Development Advisor of Sarawak’s European Wellness, Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, YBhg. Dr. Yeo Ting Chia, Haji Abu Bakar bin Sepawi, Permanent Deputy Secretary, and Ybrs. Mr Lester Matthew, Director of the Economic Planning Unit of Sarawak.
Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan also expressed interest in setting up a World Class Medical Wellness Health Tourism Education Hub to boost local employment and biotechnological advancements. Additionally, he wants to participate in the state’s welfare panel, providing alternative healthcare options for the underprivileged.
In addition to that, European Wellness plans to concentrate on children with Neurodevelopmental Diseases like Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. This draws from Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan’s extensive experience in treating thousands of such cases in the Middle East and worldwide.
Through this visit, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mike Chan conveyed confidence in Sarawak’s potential to enhance its medical wellness sector, potentially becoming a go-to medical destination for those in need and a premium centre for the well-off.
