PORTO, Portugal (December 7, 2024) — At the 6th International Congress of Integrative Medicine (ICIM) in Porto, on December 6-7, 2024. Prof. Mike Chan delivered a transformative workshop and lecture on integrative oncology, attracting over 1,400 healthcare professionals and 188 distinguished speakers from around the world. It was his second time at the congress, having been there last year. This year’s focus was on Integrative Oncology, with a spotlight on holistic cancer care that combines immunotherapy with advanced, patient-centered treatments.
Prof. Chan’s presentation, “New Approaches in Immunology & Peptide Therapy for Cancer,” was a significant highlight, emphasizing the role of immunotherapy in super-boosting the immune system and targeting cancer cells. “Suppressing the cancer cells and super-boosting the immune system is key,” Prof. Chan explained. He discussed methods such as thymus therapy, spleen therapy, and the use of super transfer factors to enhance NK (natural killer) cells in the body, which are crucial in recognizing and destroying cancer cells. Prof. Chan also stressed the importance of nurturing good gut health, noting that “the gut has more neurons than the brain and plays a vital role in our immune system.”
His integrative approach focuses not only on targeting cancer but on holistically boosting the body’s immune system, leading to long-term health and faster recovery.
Prof. Chan was also joined by Prof. Dr. Roni Moya for another anticipated session on immunology and autoimmune disorders, exploring how holistic regenerative strategies can improve patient outcomes. The two-hour workshop later in the congress focused on peptides, immune cell stimulation, and their role in supporting cancer treatment while minimizing side effects.
The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Ricardo Ferreira from ICRM 24 commented, “Great Dr. Chan.” Mayuko Yagi shared, “I was so impressed by your lectures, Dr. Chan! Your attitude to the audience and your thoughts on patients are truly inspiring.” Similarly, Luis Mendes from Portugal said, “I like a lot, and I want to practice what I’ve learned.”
Further testimonials included Pierre Da Cunha from Porto24, who described Prof. Chan’s approach as “F1 of medicine” and a refreshing approach. Dharminder Singh from the UK appreciated the depth and clarity of Prof. Chan’s lectures, calling them “very detailed, to the point, and encouraging.” He expressed interest in further training and collaboration, adding, “Looking forward to joining with your expertise.”
Prof. Chan’s work at ICIM exemplifies the growing shift toward personalized, holistic cancer care that focuses on immune system support, overall well-being, and the body’s natural healing processes. His pioneering approach continues to inspire healthcare professionals worldwide and is reshaping the future of cancer treatment.
